Can you introduce yourself and describe your digital transformation initiative?
Tamis Al-Hammadi: Hello, this is Tamis Al-Hammadi Vice Governor of Standards and Calibration in Saudi Standards, Metrology and Quality organization, SASO On behalf of his Excellency, the Governor of SASO, I am happy to head the Saudi delegation at the IEC Presidents' forum and General Meeting in San Francisco. Actually today we have more than one service for digital transformation but I will concentrate in two main services. One is called SABER platform or SABER electronic service system. The other one digital collaboration certificate. Actually there is an indica indicators showing for the government sectors showing that Sasso got about 91% for measuring digital transformation. This according to the ninth edition uh cyber as a platform for the product safety safety uh really in so this is one of the initiatives uh under really the Saudi uh national transformation program within Saudi Vision 2030 so therefore become the cyber as initiative to achieve the goals and objectives of our vision 2030. Uh It's allowed traders and manufacturers to register their products in the system and getting the required certificate of conformity uh electronically actually and ensure the safety of the products available and market safe. Uh There is many stakeholders but I will concentrate in main stakeholders as the government entities and certification bodies and important importers and manufacturers. Uh The benefits of cyber platform is minimizing the cost of the process uh and time and ensure the control of the cbs and really a custom clearance becomes very quick in uh borders and easy to respect and check all the documentation through the really integration between Sabra and fast platform and customs and also in addition to other platforms within different government sectors. Today, if we are really the indicator of conformity assessment within the market is showing we got from 68% in 2018. We got really by 2021, The certification system. Also, it is can uh, comes with Sabra as a process and to really accelerate this process through either i e c W E certificate of conformity or energy efficiency or certificate really of conformity assessment. The other services I mentioned digital calibration certificate, which is issued by our national measurement and calibration center. This is really also today becomes a fully automated process from receiving the request until deliver the certificate to the customer and minimizing the time and the cost of the process.
How do international standards play a role in your digital transformation initiative?
Tamis Al-Hammadi: If we look at how international standards play a role really in our case, for example, the digital transformation, I can say really international standards contribute to increase efficiency and security via automated processes and supporting the trend to our digital transformation by accelerating and facilitating communications between the organizations or countries in order to achieve the mutual recognition really under product flow through the borders and enhancing mutual trade. Today, for example, of this international standards ISO Technical Committee 46. Really, I mean I give some examples supporting this digital transformation. Some of the specifications, such as I mentioned as Technical Committee 46 or ISO/IEC joint Technical Committee number one subcommittee number seven, etc.
What is the value of digital transformation or learnings in your experience?
Tamis Al-Hammadi: The value of digital transformation or learning and our experience... Actually, from our experience and digital transformation in different internal and external services, we saw that the digital transformation can change the way of an organization's operation systems, processes, workflow and culture are all part of the service provided from our organizations. In addition, digital transformation is cost-related and affects and lowers operational costs.
