What drew you to ICSC?
Courtney Mercadel: What originally drew me to ICSC was the interesting dynamic of retail real estate. At the time, I did not know much about it, but ICSC student membership as well as their Launch Academy internship program. Felt like the perfect steps in learning more about the marketplaces industry.
How have you benefited from ICSC?
Courtney Mercadel: I have benefited tremendously from ICSC. Everything that I've learned about commercial real estate so far has come from ICSC and their connections. I'm a second year Launch Academy intern and I was also blessed to be able to go to the ICSC convention in Las Vegas this year. So all my connections and everything really comes from this program.
How has ICSC improved your understanding of the Marketplaces Industry, which includes the places people shop, dine, work, play and gather?
Courtney Mercadel: Before ICSC, all I knew about was residential real estate. So the marketplaces industry was completely introduced to me by ICSC. I didn't know how much real estate goes into malls restaurants and everything else. So I feel like ICSC completely improved my understanding in marketplaces industry as a whole.
