Speaker: Zaid Rawi, Co-chair, Advances Technical Committee
Zaid Rawi, Co-chair on the Technical Committee tells us why this year's Advances conference is so exciting.
Zaid Rawi, Co-chair, Advances Technical Committee: I'm really excited about this year's IChemE Advances in the Digitalisation of the Process Industries conference because we're gonna get to see practical examples of digital twin technology, the digitalisation of engineering data and maintenance data to get there, as well as new forms of process control, advanced process control.
What challenges will Advances 2025 address?
Zaid Rawi, Co-chair, Advances Technical Committee: We've got some great themes in the conference, advanced process automation, artificial intelligence and machine learning, all underpinned by data management and integration, not to mention digital risk management strategies, and then that all leads up to digital twin technology.
What will engineers get out of Advances 2025?
Zaid Rawi, Co-chair, Advances Technical Committee: So apart from the obvious technical knowledge gain, you're gonna have a chance to network with owner operators, consultants, contractors, suppliers and even academics at this conference. The suppliers will also have booths where you can dive deeper into some of the technologies they'll be showing.
What are you most looking forward to at Advances 2025?
Zaid Rawi, Co-chair, Advances Technical Committee: I'm really looking forward to seeing the new process automation technology that is looking to try and displace advanced process control. Not to mention chatting to Hazid Limited on their booth regarding digitisation of engineering data, and Daniel Simkiss' British Sugar presentation where they'll show practical use of Gen AI to help advise operations is particularly exciting as a plenary on the last day.
