Speaker: Shalom

Shalom: Hello, my name is Shalom and I am currently located in Dallas, Texas.

Shalom: I am very much open for remote work, but I'm currently not open for relocation right now.

What were you doing for a job prior to taking the pre-apprenticeship training?

Shalom: Prior to taking the pre apprenticeship training, I was working as a personal trainer for a company called nextgen Fitness.

What inspired you to take the pre-apprenticeship training and begin learning about mainframes?

Shalom: Um growing up, I've always been interested in computers. As a kid, my parents would always come to me to like, figure out what was wrong with the computer, what was wrong with their phone, what was wrong with the printer and stuff like that? So I've always had kind of like a knack for fixing stuff and like just things that had to do with devices. Um As I went into college, I got a degree in kinesiology, exercise science. I kind of wanted to test out my other passion because I was in sports and stuff like that. And once I graduated, I figured it's not really what I would want to do in my career. So I decided to pursue my other passion, which was it. And my parents also were backing me

Shalom: So I decided to take the pre apprenticeship program, ended up really liking it. And now I'm taking an online course for cybersecurity to pursue my career in this field.

What excites you about working with IBM Z?

Shalom: Um being able to put what I'm learning in school and what I'm going to get from the potential job is something that really excites me. And I love learning and I love using my brain. So the fact that I'll be able to problem solve with both aspects is something that's really exciting to me. Um The position that I'm looking at

What are your super powers? (or what zSkills do you bring to a future employer?

Shalom: I think my main superpowers are would be communication, problem solving and adaptability. Um I think those three are really like the main things that like resonate with me. I'm really good at communication and talking about things. I'm pretty good at problem solving and trying to figure out a way to solve a problem my own way or the best way. And I'm pretty adaptable. Like I can learn new things. I can take advice and take criticism really well.

How would you describe yourself as a team member?

Shalom: I would consider myself as a really good team member. Um I like the fact that I would be able to like bounce ideas off of each other and get feedback from um team members. Um If I struggle in a certain aspect,

Shalom: advice to somebody who needs help to. So the fact that we can collaborate together and like figure out the best way to solve problems together in case we need that um is a really good thing to me and something I look forward to.

Are you open to remote work or relocation?

Shalom: I am excited about the prospect of me attributing my skills to the team. If this were like a book, I would say our next chapter would be a best seller. Thank you for the opportunity and I look forward to working with you guys.
