What is the most meaningful part of your day or week as part of the Specialty Pharmacy team at UVA Health?
Gillian: Every week there is a team huddle, and during these team huddles- they're on Fridays- during these team huddles, there is a segment called patient feedback, and I love this segment. It's patients submitting stories and reviews about their experience under our care and just expressing thanks for all of the work that the pharmacists and technicians do here, helping them access very rare specialty medications, or being able to afford these rare specialty medications, being able to afford regular medications, you know. Our pharmacists and technicians, a lot of them go to incredible lengths to make sure that our patients are receiving the care that they deserve. Those stories are incredible. The other thing is that during these segments, it's always someone different getting shouted out. It's really, really, there is not a single technician, I think, who hasn't gotten a shout out from a patient, and my favorite ones are when they hear this shout out and they're surprised, they're not expecting it, the technician is not expecting it. They had no idea the impact that they made on this person's life. So, those are the stories that you hear. There's so many more that you don't hear from, you know. There are things you do here that you have no idea how much they are helping someone else. and it really has a lot of meaning and purpose in everything that you do. It's so cool in that way. It's just really special.
