Membership Spotlight

Video Transcript

Lisa Gleason: My name is Lisa Gleason, People Operations Manager at Arkatechture.

Tell us more about Arkatechture :)

Lisa Gleason: Arkatechture is a technology company. So we work with other organizations to help them gain a better understanding of their business through data.

What was your first impression of Hone Membership?

Lisa Gleason: By having the additional membership classes, employees are able to maybe take some of the same classes that they took in the boot camp to sort of reinforce or they can kind of pick and choose something that might be effective to one manager and important in their own learning might not be helpful to someone else, so by being able to pick and choose in that membership um you know, I think that that's and people have different interests as far as skills that they want to sharpen? So being able to put the power in the manager's hand to say this is a class I want to take, this is something that I'm interested in learning more about, or this is a challenge that I'm facing with my team, um you know, take a class on it and you can kind of pick and make it your own, whereas a boot camp is

I was originally looking out just for a four class bootcamp and, you know, what I got completely exceeded our expectations of what was available. So super motivating for employees to know that they have this extra tool of support to be able to utilize so they can be better managers.

What feedback did you get from learners about their Membership classes?

Lisa Gleason: They were surprised at how interactive the classes were, you know, that you go in to your first class thinking maybe you're going to sort of sit and listen and that's not at all what it is, which becomes a lot more effective, you know, when you need to participate and be active in the in the learning. So, you know, that was all very positive.

Did you have any challenges with Membership?

Lisa Gleason: One, I think, challenge that we ran into was, you know, all managers are really busy in their role, you know, we are, as I said, a growing, fast-paced company, so to have time to actually go in and take time for yourself to do a training class, it's sometimes hard to manage. So we actually made it a requirement that managers should take at least one Hone class per quarter and then any additional classes that you want to take, they're available to you, you can go ahead and do them. So that way it sort of

forced everybody to say, "Okay, I'm taking this time out for myself, enrolling in a class." And again, all the feedback that we got from those was really positive and some people enrolled in more classes, they liked the first so much, they wanted to explore different topics and really take advantage of the tool.

Would you recommend Hone Membership to a fellow L&D/HR leader?

I would definitely recommend Hone. From the feedback that I received, from all of our employees taking classes, It's, you know, no doubt a definite, great learning tool that a company can offer their employees for sure.
