Speakers: Margaret Dawson Amoah, Participant in Welcome Baby Program
How did home visiting impact your life?
Margaret Dawson Amoah: Hi. My name is Margaret and my son is Kuuky, and I am super excited to make this little video about experience with Welcome Baby. So I'm, I'm a PhD student at USC. Uh My husband's back home on the other side of the world. Our baby was totally not expected at this time, you know, uh he's turning a year very soon and I can't even believe that he's that big right now. But yes, um coming home alone with a baby without my husband or family. Welcome Baby was a lifeline for us. Um We had people who knew what they were doing, uh just available to answer any questions that I had and just checking up on us. I remember the first week we were home. Um We didn't have an actual in-person visit. We had an online visit, but that was so thoughtful and welcome because at that point, I just, I didn't know, you know, it was just nice to talk to someone else who knew what they were doing again. And at least to be assured that what I was doing was also ok. Yes, so I'm really grateful for the program. We've aged out. My son's almost a year old like I said earlier and I still can text Denise, which I did recently to ask about Um, weaning him, you know, other questions that I had so really grateful for the work that you all do for many families like ours. And yeah, I just wanted to take a moment to say thank you and to celebrate you all for the good work. Thank you so, so very much.
