Speaker: Lauryn Pioro
What is one of your big take-aways from our ARC Experience? Describe how you will bring that into your practice as an educator.
Lauryn Pioro: One of my biggest takeaways from the alliance that I'll bring back to my students is to remember to be relational to them. Um And not to bring my values and my agenda into it only because these students, if we're not meeting them where they're at and at their values, then we're not going to be reaching them and seeing things about them that they care about and we're more than likely going to be skewing and changing who they are as people. So I'll always remember to relate back to my students um and meet them where they're at.
If you were to recommend this experience to a colleague, what would you share and why?
Lauryn Pioro: If I were to recommend the alliance to any of my fellow teachers, I would tell them to come into this, ready to learn and ready to put your personal thoughts and your personal knowledge aside and commit this from the lens of bettering our students lives and really connecting and understanding them. Um It's not about us, it's not about the mistakes that we've made. It's about learning and helping our students grow.
