Speaker: Carla Jordan

What is one of your big take-aways from our ARC Experience? Describe how you will bring that into your practice as an educator.

Carla Jordan: One of the biggest takeaways from this group from this time together is just the importance of restorative practice. And for sure, I am going to take this back into my classroom. I want to incorporate it as a regular practice, not just for conflict resolution, but for talking together and listening to one another and for learning the process of collaboration.

If you were to recommend this experience to a colleague, what would you share and why?

Carla Jordan: If I were going to recommend this process to a colleague, I would say the number one reason is just the work of unpacking your own bias, the journey that it takes to um turn how to be more vulnerable and um open to change to a new way of thinking about things. And it's, it challenges, it challenges your previously how beliefs, it challenges your teaching practices makes you rethink what you're doing, your motivation and why you're doing it in the classroom. And it really increases your cognizance of the importance of culturally relevant curriculum and writing curriculum. That does just that, that speaks to the hearts of your students.
