Introduce yourself! What is your name? What is your position? What hospital do you work at?

Ken Brengel: Good afternoon. My name is Ken Brengel. My company is KJB Facility Consulting Incorporated My company is KJB Facility Consulting Incorporated My company is KJB Facility Consulting Incorporated My company is KJB Facility Consulting Incorporated I work as an engineering and facilities consultant for hospitals. Presently I do most of my work for NYU Langone NYU Langone NYU Langone Long Island for the engineering department. It's located in Mineola New York and it's a 600 bed institution.

How much time does your team spend testing emergency lights every month? How did you keep records for TJC?

Ken Brengel: Uh Typically when we had guys going out in the field it was tremendous amounts of work for them. They had to carry around their route sheet. So they had all this paperwork with them recording what they found with the testing, marking and commenting on the form and by the time they would get back the paperwork typically wasn't in the best of shape so we would have to decipher what happened if there was issues, what we needed to do, corrective action on risk assessments, work orders to repair things, things of that nature.

How easy was setting up Hexmodal's system? Did you have to involve IT?

Ken Brengel: Langone Long Island campus and um in In the past year or so we've installed all new exit signs and emergency lights and the process was so easy. There was no involvement with IT. There was no involvement with IT. Hexmodal has this gateway Hexmodal has this gateway that works with a cellular service. So we strategically landed maybe four or five gateways throughout the campus which is a huge campuses. 600 beds, 600,000 square feet. with a lot of old infrastructure.

What does testing your emergency lights look like now? What does your team do with the extra time?

Ken Brengel: You get a perfect report back and when it's all completed, you have documentation that everyone will be proud of. It's legible. It's printed. You don't have to worry about sheets getting lost and we have our electricians getting lost and we have our electricians So we have more productive time now. We have five man days back that we were using towards testing. We can put those men to use. Patient care taking care of other electrical devices and items. And we test seamlessly. So we're very happy with Hexmodal and we plan on implementing more and more devices as they come available.
