Speaker: Theresa Nissenbaum

Start by letting us know who you are, what position you are applying, and in what city/state.

Theresa Nissenbaum : Hi, I'm Theresa Nissenbaum. And I will be applying in Worcester as a hearing instrument specialist and, or audiologist position as well as a technician.

Why should we hire you?

Theresa Nissenbaum : Some reasons that I feel I deserve this position is my love for audiology. Um I have been studying in my undergraduate degree, Communication sciences and disorders, but I've had a love and a real interest for audiology. Um So this would be an amazing opportunity to learn and grow so much more. Um I have really strong communication as well as interpersonal skills. And I love to work on a team as well as just providing treatment to people that need it and making a difference in their lives is ultimately the end goal. Um So this opportunity would be great to join this team.

What is your greatest accomplishment so far?

Theresa Nissenbaum : Some of my greatest accomplishments would probably be, um getting a 4.0 I received a 4.0 a few times in my undergraduate career and I'm going to be graduating with hopefully a 3.9. That's what I have right now. Um So I'm really, really proud of myself, especially because when I was a freshman it was 2020. So the pandemic was definitely um there when I was in college. So it was really, really hard. Um, I didn't think I was even going to get through my undergraduate degree, but I persevered, I pushed through, I studied every night, worked so, so hard. Um, and the rewards really did pay off. I'm on the dean's list as well as, um, just knowing that I accomplished so much throughout my undergraduate degree, feels really, really great.

Describe your ‘perfect’ day?

Theresa Nissenbaum : A perfect day would definitely be waking up nice and early having a nice breakfast, getting out the door, getting a nice exercise or workout in, coming back, cleaning up and just getting a lot of work done, getting all my stuff done. Um, so that way I have time to make a nice dinner. I love to cook. So definitely cooking up something nice for dinner. Um, and then just hanging out with my friends and family at the end of the night would probably be the best day.

In the next 3-5 years where do you see yourself personally and professionally. Share as many details as you are comfortable with.

Theresa Nissenbaum : In 3 to 5 years. I can definitely see myself settling down having a nice place with my boyfriend and by this time I should have a secure job. Um, I see myself in a position where I'm making a difference in people's lives. I'm bettering the quality of their lives. Um, I also see myself definitely working on a team or with a large group of people. Um I really enjoy working with others and I definitely see myself in 3 to 5 years growing and learning so, so much more than where I am now. Um And I'm really excited to see where it takes me.

Who do you think of for; motivation, inspiration and direction? Why

Theresa Nissenbaum : The person that inspires me and motivates me the most is probably my dad. Um He is the most hard working man I know. Um And growing up, he always taught me that life is full of hard work and you need to work hard to succeed. Um He grew up with a lot of struggles in his life, but he overcame all of those struggles and he's such an amazing dad. He teaches me new lessons every day. Um So in my head, when I think of someone who inspires me the most, I would definitely say it's my dad.

What gives you a sense of Purpose?

Theresa Nissenbaum : For me, I feel like happiness and relationships give me a sense of purpose. Um I'm really close with my family as well as my friends. So I think that having good people around you makes life so much better and it really shows what the purpose of life is. And I also think that happiness in general, making other people happy, making other people smile. Um definitely gives me a sense of purpose. Um It shows that you really have control over other people um and their emotions. So being kind and being caring to other people um will make a difference in your own life.

What does success look like to you?

Theresa Nissenbaum : Success to me, definitely includes having a healthy and loving family, as well as a career where I feel fulfilled. Um as well as having a good work life balance. I want to have a career where I can grow and learn so much more. Um and definitely be financially stable while also having time to care for myself and for my family.

What would be your top 3 book recommendations regardless of genre and why?

Theresa Nissenbaum : So three books that I would recommend are the alchemist a long walk to water in the Great Gatsby. I really like meaningful books that kind of show an underlying message or teach you like a life lesson that maybe wasn't intended to be the main point of it. Um A lot of the books that I read have to do with like people overcoming struggles and then kind of learning lessons along the way. Um So I would definitely recommend those three books.
