Speaker: Shellene Hawkins
Start by letting us know who you are and why you are applying for the Hearing and Brain Centers of America
Shellene Hawkins: Hi, my name is Sheleen Hawkins. Um, I want to apologize about the hat. I was not aware this was going to be recorded, so I would normally look a lot more professional. So I apologize. Um, a little bit about me. I have been a dental assistant here in Del Tita for the last eight years. I love that type of environment where the team becomes a family. You work together. It's a drama free environment. I love that one on one patient, uh, communication, getting to know them as you know, we are a very small town in central Utah and I love building that connection with patients as they come in and getting to know them on a personal basis and gaining that trust from them. So I, that is the type of environment that I love to be in.
Why should we hire you?
Shellene Hawkins: Why should you hire me? Because I am outgoing. I am confident I am fun to be around. I'm very easy to talk to. I love being around people. I learn fast and I am motivated to learn if it's something new to me, I love to. And oh, I'm just a fun person.
What is your greatest accomplishment so far?
Shellene Hawkins: My greatest accomplishment so far, I would have to say is this is kind of on a personal level. I went through a very tough divorce eight years ago. I actually lived in Saint George at the time. Um, but came back to Delta and I've raised two kids and gone back to work after not working for 10 years and we're all smiling. So I would dare say that is my greatest accomplishment. Aside from running Saint George marathon several times, I am a huge fitness person and absolutely love it. So that in itself is another accomplishment.
Describe your ‘perfect’ day?
Shellene Hawkins: My perfect day. How do we say this? I would say wake up and I'm gonna say I'm gonna have a personal chef that one day that cooks me, breakfast, lunch and dinner, get up, go writing and just have a fun relaxing day with my kids. To be honest, that is my stage of life. That would be my perfect day and no fighting a day of no fighting with kids. I hope that you guys are moms and you would understand so perfect day.
In the next 3-5 years where do you see yourself personally and professionally. Share as many details as you are comfortable with.
Shellene Hawkins: Where do I see myself in 3 to 5 years professionally. And personally, I'll start with, personally, um, 3 to 5 years that would be to have my daughter graduated. So personally, I'd like to see her obviously accomplish that as a mother, as well as I would hope to be remarried, to be honest with you. Um, and just thriving in life and happy and just doing the best I can professionally. I would love to be in a career. Um Something that I can grow in something that I am learning daily and it's, and that I've been with for the entire time. I don't like the bouncing around. So I would, I would like to be in a career and a very, and a, and an incredible office with an incredible team where I have room to grow.
Who do you think of for; motivation, inspiration and direction? Why
Shellene Hawkins: Who do you think of for direction, motivation and inspiration? I will say my Children, I'm back to my Children. They are my everything and that is who I do things for. And I'm going to be honest, I think of myself as too for that as well. I like to see, I like to see growth. I like to stay motivated in life. Um And to have direction, I like to see how far I've come and to keep pushing. So I will say us three, I think of myself, my kids and that's it. My two kids. Sorry.
What gives you a sense of Purpose?
Shellene Hawkins: What gives me a sense of purpose. Um I love to help others. I think a small act of kindness a day goes a long way. So helping others, helping others see their purpose in life and by seeing develop and growth within myself from that.
What does success look like to you?
Shellene Hawkins: What does success look like? I would say success looks like true happiness. Um Obviously, money is somewhat tied to that. But ultimately happiness, I think being able to leave work every day and being happy is success. To me not getting in that car and dreading what you did for the day or how long you were there by going home and loving what you do and what you did that did that day and accomplished that to me is true success.
What would be your top 3 book recommendations regardless of genre and why?
Shellene Hawkins: OK. So my top three books, you're gonna have to don't judge me on this. I'm not really a big book reader. I prefer being outside and being active. I do not really want to sit down, but I do love one book and it's called Vulnerability by Brene Brown. I think being able to open up and to communicate and just be authentically yourself with others is so crucial. So I would say that is my top book. However, I do like conference talks. So I do read those here and there. So those I'm going to just say conference talks. Um obviously that makes I me the so yes, conference talks and Vulnerability by Berne Brown. I would have to say.
