Speaker: Cathryn O'Neal

Start by letting us know who you are, what position you are applying, and in what city/state.

Cathryn O'Neal: Hi, I'm Catherine o'neill and I'm applying for the patient experience coordinator in Weatherford Texas.

Why should we hire you?

Cathryn O'Neal: First, I would like to thank you for the opportunity to apply to such an awesome position. Uh I've been in LVN for 20 plus years. I was a business manager of a family business for two years. I was an assistant store manager at Dollar General for two years. I have a very good understanding of five star customer service. I was a patient advocate for 20 plus years as an LVN. Um I'm a hard worker. I'm dedicated, I'm passionate about my work and I'm trying to be fair in everything I do.

What is your greatest accomplishment so far?

Cathryn O'Neal: My greatest achievement. Well, I would have to say, graduate in high school a year early, took a lot of work, a lot of dedication to get that done. And then my LVN license.

Describe your ‘perfect’ day?

Cathryn O'Neal: A perfect day would consist of getting up early, going to work, doing uh patient care and coming home with a feeling that I made an impact on someone's life that I made somebody's day better.

In the next 3-5 years where do you see yourself personally and professionally. Share as many details as you are comfortable with.

Cathryn O'Neal: In five years, I'd like to be an industry expert that others can come to for ideas uh help strategy. Um I've had great mentors and managers in the past and I would hope that I would be a mentor and a manager that could give the same guidance that I've been given and potentially become a leader in the industry.

Who do you think of for; motivation, inspiration and direction? Why

Cathryn O'Neal: Who inspires me the most. I'd have to say. My dad, my dad started out as a highway patrolman, established the probation office in Parker County, was chief probation officer studied law at home at night and on the weekends, um and became a, an attorney passing the bar his first try without law school. Uh So I think a lot about him, he gives me my strong work ethic. Um.

What gives you a sense of Purpose?

Cathryn O'Neal: What gives me purpose. I feel successful when other people feel successful. Um When I've mentored them and they're working on their own and not needing to be mentored anymore and feeling successful. Then that gives me a sense of accomplishment. I had a boss that was way behind. We collaborated, got caught up and when her bosses looked at her as if she were successful, uh then I felt successful.

What does success look like to you?

Cathryn O'Neal: Success to me is making a good impact on someone else's life.

What would be your top 3 book recommendations regardless of genre and why?

Cathryn O'Neal: My three top book recommendations. The Living Bible would be first because it brings direction and inspiration to my life, peace and joy to my heart, uh USS Indianapolis, those guys stayed out on those rafts, the camaraderie and spirit that kept them alive on that driftwood until they were rescued and unbroken Zamperini. And his example of how you can learn to love and forgive people that you should hate.
