Speaker: Calvin Hunsaker
Start by letting us know who you are, what position you are applying, and in what city/state.
Calvin Hunsaker: All right. My name is Calvin Hacer. Um, I don't know entirely what the position is that I'm applying for. I had Luke Evans who works with the guys he recommended me. I guess there's a website position. He didn't say exactly what it was called or anything and it would be in Saint George Utah. And, yeah, so I'm just graduating with my computer science degree. So that's kind of right up my alley. So I was like, sure I'll apply and we'll see what happens.
Why should we hire you?
Calvin Hunsaker: All right. So why should we hire you? So, based on the position that you guys are offering as like a website developer, I believe it would be. That's exactly what I was studying in school. Computer science. We did a lot of that kind of stuff and for a company that I'm working for right now I've been doing their website so it's that same kind of stuff. So, I have a lot of experience with it and, yeah, very hard worker. I enjoy getting things done and enjoy progress. So, yeah.
What is your greatest accomplishment so far?
Calvin Hunsaker: All right. I'd say my greatest accomplishment so far would probably be getting my computer science degree. I didn't come from like a tech background. I didn't grow up really on computers or anything like that. So it was very, very new to me when I started and was quite the learning curve, especially with the math involved and all that. It was, it was difficult and I just persevered and kept going and got through it and I'm, I'm pretty proud of it. It was, it was difficult, but I enjoyed it. I learned to love it and I'm happy to be applying to a position where I can keep using it. Thanks.
Describe your ‘perfect’ day?
Calvin Hunsaker: All right. So describe your perfect day. I would say my perfect day, I'd, it'd probably be working first, like maybe, you know, 8 to 430 or something along those lines because II I enjoy working. It gives me purpose gives you something to do. I, I enjoy it. And then after that, uh going to the gym, I really enjoy going to the gym. It's something I've become pretty passionate about. I, I like it a lot. And then after that, me and my girlfriend, we have a little Border Collie black la lab dog. So maybe taking her for a walk to the park and then I, I enjoy learning as well. It's something I like to keep up on. So maybe then and the ninth with some youtube videos about some Java script or something that I've been studying recently. And yeah, I think that probably my perfect day, maybe in bed by like 10. I don't like to stay up too, too late. And yeah, that, that probably be my ideal day.
In the next 3-5 years where do you see yourself personally and professionally. Share as many details as you are comfortable with.
Calvin Hunsaker: Uh, in the next 3 to 5 years. Where do you see yourself personally and professionally? So, I'll start with personally. Um, the next 3 to 5 years I have a pretty serious girlfriend right now. We've been dating for quite a while. So probably at that point we'd be married. I'd hope she'd help for sure. Um, we'd be married and maybe a kid or two at that point. That's probably where I'd like to see myself personally. I'd like to stay in the Saint George area as well. I really like it here. Um, professionally. Oh, I would just like to see myself grow professionally and the tech field, which I've chosen to get better and better at it, become more of a professional and continue to grow with this company from what I talked to with Luke about. It sounds like this is a smaller ish company with a lot of room to grow. So it seems like there's a lot of opportunity here, especially in 3 to 5 years. So, yeah, I'd enjoy to do that.
Who do you think of for; motivation, inspiration and direction? Why
Calvin Hunsaker: All right. Who do you think of for motivation, inspiration and direction? I'd say my dad, I've just seen him, seen his work ethic over the years and seen him persevere through a lot of struggle and always be able to provide, never complained, just continued working and continued being that rock for our family. And I also think it's like, and a motivation too because, you know, I've always wanted to make him proud. So I always have that chip on my shoulder to try and do things that would make him proud. And then my mom as well. She was, she was home more. She was a stay at home mom. So I saw a little bit less of that like perseverance and determination to like provide, obviously she provided around the house. She did amazing things, but I think primarily it would be my dad for sure.
What gives you a sense of Purpose?
Calvin Hunsaker: What gives you a sense of purpose. I would say almost anything that's productive. I think that's why I really enjoy the gym. It just feels really productive. Like I'm progressing in a, in a way. So anything that gives me that sense of progression, whether it's work, you know, getting better at the tech field, which I've chosen, learning more, getting better with people. I feel any, any, any sense of growth I'd have or a growth I could help other people achieve to like maybe helping a company that would give me a great sense of purpose to be able to see them grow. I enjoy seeing things grow and build. I would say that's what gives me the biggest sense of purpose.
What does success look like to you?
Calvin Hunsaker: All right. What does success look like to you? I would say for me, success would look like being able to provide for a family. I think that really be my definition of success. As long as you can, as long as I could provide for my family and know that they're taking care of, then they have a good life. I I don't see how that wouldn't be considered a success. Obviously, I have high as high aspirations as most people do, but I think that success would just be being able to provide, you know, to give my Children or wife or whoever opportunities just be able to do things for them would probably be what I describe succe success like for me.
What would be your top 3 book recommendations regardless of genre and why?
Calvin Hunsaker: This one stump me for a minute. I'd say my top three book recommendations first would probably just be rich dad, poor dad. Just because I think the mindset mindset shift in it and the, it's just the perspective it gives you is really crucial for anyone just to, like, have that understanding of how money works to a degree. And then these are gonna sound a little bit nerdy. Probably Aragon. I really, really enjoyed that book. Especially growing up. I read it a ton and then Percy Jackson as well. I'd say I read those a bunch in my childhood. So those would probably be my top three. I, yeah.
