Speaker: Ella J, People Partner, Primer

What were you hoping to get out of the Strengths workshop?

Ella J: the Strength Strength workshop? For me it was, I'm, I love personality tests and generally, Myers Briggs, insights, etc. I've done other tests before, and I had heard great things about Gallup in general and Strength Finders, and I was really looking to understand how. My strengths had evolved in the last few years and how I could use those, in collaboration with my team and what were the skills in particular I was bringing that were quite unique to me, and the person that I am, to just amplify our team skill sets, and dynamic in general.

What’s one meaningful change you’ve noticed in yourself or your team since the workshop?

Ella J: So when I did the Strength Finders, I realized that I was very blue and my my biggest strengths were very much focused around coaching, influencing, amplifying other people's voices, and this is something that I've actually really taken on board and reflected on in the past few weeks. And I'm actually now starting to think about how can I use these particular strengths that are quite unique to me and my and my personality and general persona. And make the most out of them in my team. I work in the people team, so obviously these, these skills are very suited to my role, which is people partner and people partnering in general. However, I'd like to take it one step further, and that is thanks to, the Strength Finders exercise

What would you say to a team leader who’s considering running a Strengths workshop?

Ella J: What I'd say to a team leader is definitely to take the strength workshop. I think it's, it's interesting to also reflect before the workshop on your own personal skills, potentially reading the, the top five strengths of everyone in their team just to understand, What each team member has in terms of top strengths, but also to understand the logic of how Gallup and Strength Finders generally works because it is it is a, logic to itself and I think it's important to have a basic understanding of how that works before jumping on the workshop, but I would definitely recommend it. I think it's really interesting as a manager and generally a team leads. To use it to really make the most out of the different members of the team, in terms of progression and development, but also management style, understanding what the different energies and strengths each person has means that they can really tailor the advice, mentorship, coaching that they can give to one of their team and get the most out of them.
