Why is controlled freezing and thawing important?
Andrew Boyd: Controlled rate freezing and thawing is critical for maximizing cell survival rates and cell viability. Liquid nitrogen alternative systems are very aggressive by nature, so we use a Sterling engine which is completely user controlled.
Why use the CRFT for cryopreservation?
Andrew Boyd: The CRFT is liquid nitrogen and cryogen free with a built-in software package which comes complete with the system allows users to define their own freezing and thawing rates.
