Speaker: Kadijah K.
What motivated you to go back to high school at this time in your life? Why did you choose this program?
Kadijah K.: Hi. So the reason why I was so motivated to finish school is because first of all, I'm getting older and then for two, like, I didn't want to get older in age and then look back at my life and have full of regrets. Like I did not want to sing that I should have, could have, would have song, would have had the opportunity to do it, you know, and so I believe that, you know, you know, my purpose in life was to finish. It was to continue so I can help somebody else. Like it doesn't matter about your age. It doesn't matter like where you've been, what you've been through. Like, it matters if you finish. And I just thank God that he allowed me just to finish. He didn't allow me to give up. It was tough. But like my motivation was to keep going because it's in me to go.
What parts of the program helped you make it to graduation?
Kadijah K.: My success coach Eric. Hey Eric! He was one that like really pushed me, really motivated me, really kept me going, like his calls, his emails, his texts. It was great because it's not only my family cheering me on, but somebody who doesn't really know me but supporting me in a good way, motivated me, motivated me to finish. And I'm just so grateful for that. Like, you know, it, it's something about when somebody is celebrating you before you even won. And he did that for me. And I'm just so grateful for him because he really like pushed me all the way to the very end of the class, all the way. And I'm just so grateful that, you know, I had the rally of people around me. I had a good support around me that really helped me push to the end.
How has your life and/or mindset changed since earning your high school diploma?
Kadijah K.: My mindset has definitely changed as I graduated and the process of me getting the actual diploma because like it shifted me in a, in a new place where now I'm able to see different because, you know, I'm, I'm in a new place where I didn't feel like such a, like a burden. Like I felt like, you know, that I lost time because I didn't do it the right way of, you know, getting a high school diploma at a certain age, you know, but I am grateful because now I'm able to show my children and tell my children that, you know, even though I didn't graduate in that time, like, I still had time to actually get the high school diploma and I didn't waste the time. So, like, it definitely had changed my mindset because now I'm able to do more than, you know, what I've been doing. I'm able to, you know, go to college, I'm able to, you know, really tell people, hey, look, you know, I didn't do it the traditional way, you know, I had to do it a different way. And so that has been like, gratitude for me through this process has been definitely a game changer for me. Gratitude.
What are your plans now that you’ve graduated?
Kadijah K.: So my plans after I graduated, of course, go to college. Yay. So I'm kind of actually already working in the field that I want to be in. I now just want to get certified. I want to get a degree in what I'm doing. Whether if that's my master's or my bachelor's. So I'm excited about that.
What's one piece of encouragement you'd offer someone who is considering this program?
Kadijah K.: I would tell someone to definitely like go for it. If you're considering this program and you want to better your life and you want better for you, you want better for your family, you want better for your future, you want better for your now, I would definitely jump into this program because you do get people who support you. You do get people who want to see you grow. You do get people who you know, love for you to, you know, excel and be great and I would definitely tell them to go for it because it's worth it and you won't waste your time, but your time will be well spent because you're gonna go after what your heart is desiring for. So I will tell someone to go for it.
