Speaker: April P.

Which certificate program did you choose and why? What did you hope to gain from it?

April P.: I chose the OSHA program because I thought that it would help me get a jumpstart on my safety on the stuff that I'm going to try to do like childcare and stuff like that.

Has your certificate inspired interest in a new career or given you the confidence to try something new? If so, how?

April P.: Yes, I'm actually in college right now getting my associate's degree, but I just got a part-time job as a childcare worker at Mercy Hospital where I'm from.

How would you use the skills and insight you gained from this pathway to apply for a job? Has it helped you advance your career at all?

April P.: Yes, there was when I applied for my childcare position that I'm going to start the 23rd of this month. They were excited that I had my OSHA, and I'm fixing to go get my CPR license, so it's advanced my career a lot.

What did you like best about the certificate program experience?

April P.: I liked how it really showed me the ups and downs and the safety of working in places. It was a... It wasn't hard, but it was challenging, and it made you actually study. It made you do everything that you're supposed to do.

What would you say to other learners who are considering enrolling in a certificate program? Any advice or encouragement?

April P.: If there's anyone out there that is going for a certificate program, I would tell them to do it, to get it, to get that accomplishment that you're, you're going for because it's, it's one of the best things to have already on your side once you go to further care your career. That's one less thing that you don't have to do because you already got it.
