Happy Women’s History Month/International Women's Day - How are you celebrating?
Mandy Price: Why is Women's History Month important to me? While Women's History Month celebrates the achievements of women around the world, it's also important time to bring awareness to the challenges women face and highlight ways to support them. This month brings attention to issues such as gender parity, pay equity and representation in leadership roles. And it's a critical time for individuals and companies to reflect on what actions we can take to achieve gender equity. This year's theme is embrace equity and in order for women to be empowered in the workplace, it is crucial to implement equitable and inclusive policies, practices and procedures that address the barriers both historically and socially that have prevented women from achieving their full potential. As a leader of a Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging company, I'm celebrating this year by speaking at a number of events across the country to raise awareness on how company leaders can better support women in the workplace and take actionable steps towards gender equity.
2023's International Women's Day theme is #EmbraceEquity. How do you think (the collective) we can work together to impact positive change?
Mandy Price: How can we work together to impact positive change? It's important that we invite other women to the table and champion them. You also can ask your employer about their policies and how they're working to become a more equitable inclusive organization. We also need to encourage and prioritize pay equity, not only when hiring, but also when promoting employees. And we have to have meaningful conversations around gender equity. In order to better understand diversity equity inclusion. We need to brainstorm and really understand how we can make the workplace better. We also need to be sure that we speak up when we see something wrong. We have to stand up and be an ally for others.
What advice would you give to the next generation of women as they begin their careers?
Mandy Price: What advice would I give the next generation of women as they begin their careers? I'd advise them to take care of their mental health and to give themselves the same empathy that they show others. I believe we can accomplish all of our dreams and goals, but we have to be gentle with ourselves along the way.
