What does Women’s Equality Day mean to you?
Tameka Foster: For me, Women's Equality Day means a day of remembrance and acknowledgement of those women who have paved the way for me as a woman in technology and in particular, cybersecurity. Immediately when I thought about Women's Equality Day, the poem "Still I Rise", by Maya Angelou came to mind. Particularly a few lines I'd like to share with you: "Out of the huts of history’s shame I rise. Up from a past that’s rooted in pain I rise. Into a daybreak that’s wondrously clear I rise. I am the dream and the hope of the slave. I rise." So today I celebrate the dream of my ancestors. I celebrate the dreams that have yet to be manifested or realized for all women across the globe. Today I say, rise, women rise.
