What does Women’s Equality Day mean to you?
Patricia Hadden: What Women's Equality Day means to me is, even though I think, you know, historically it commemorates women's right to vote in the United States, it really symbolically for me, represents a day of celebration for all women globally. It is a chance to reflect and really be proud of how far we've come. And also just appreciate all of the women who came before us who have made incredible contributions to their communities and society at large and really helped pave the way for all of us. I wouldn't be here today if it wasn't for them. From those who are incredibly well known, to our mothers and our grandmothers. Who again for me, were the first symbols of strength in my childhood. I think also, you know, it is a day and really a chance for us while appreciating the progress that has been made, also acknowledging that we have a long way to go to be, you know, truly reach a state of equality where everyone has access to the same opportunities while embracing what makes us uniquely women. You know, I remember when I started my career, I was typically the only woman in the room, let alone person of color. And you know, now I take a look around a conference room and I see this tapestry of different genders and colors, you know, and hopefully that that can inspire us collectively to leave a better world for our daughters and for our granddaughters.
