What struggles do teachers commonly face in this course area and how are they addressed in the forthcoming/most recent edition?

Bruce Wilson: I'm Bruce Wilson, the author of GDNT Application and Interpretation. It is always a challenge to find a textbook that matches the depth of content needed for a specific course G and T application and interpretation is organized to enable adjusting content and depth through selected readings. Teachers have achieved great success using this textbook and course offerings ranging from introductory to advanced GD and T when it comes to homework, the textbook contains extensive questions and problems with answers available to the instructors. However, to minimize time for the students to complete the work and minimize grading time, the study guide is the best option for assignments. The solutions manual contains answers for the textbook and the study guide. When it comes to quizzes and exams, we all know how much time that can take. But we have available over 1400 questions and problems with answers that can be used to create quizzes and exams.

What are you most excited about in the forthcoming/most recent edition of this title?

Bruce Wilson: I'm Bruce Wilson, the author of GD and T application and interpretation. The eighth edition builds on the major major advances that were made in the seventh edition. The model based explanations and illustrations were carefully reviewed and appropriate changes made to achieve compliance with recent changes in applicable A SME standards. So the eighth edition includes the methods and requirements of the latest A SME Y 14.41 standard. There was also a major standard change that took place for surface texture specification symbology. The eighth edition includes the completely revised A SME standard for surface texture specification and also retained a brief explanation of past practices.

What makes this title unique?

Bruce Wilson: Why is GDNT application and interpretation, the best book for teaching and reference? You know, that's a hard question to answer without sounding arrogant. But I'll try. There are many positive aspects of this work, including the logical flow of the material and depth of illustration used. But perhaps the most important thing to know is that it is already used widely with great success. Another thing to consider is the knowledge and experience of the author since 1986. I've been part of the team that writes the national standards since 1994. I've been part of the leadership during development of those standards. I chaired the committee and led writing the current A SME Y 14.5 standard. I know the reasons behind the requirements in industry. I was selected as a technical fellow in Boeing for achieving dimensional control using GD and T and related technologies. I hold four us patents for computer processes used in variation analysis. And perhaps most importantly, I've taught GD and T and led GD and T implementation efforts involving thousands of students using this in previous editions. No other author brings the same level of experience to their writings.
