Sandra C Bibb: Hello, I'm Sandra Bibb, owner and cultural competence consultant for Sandra C Garman Bibb consultant. I'm also the 35th president for Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society.
In a few sentences, what will you be speaking about at the 2024 GNSA Conference?
Sandra C Bibb: It's my honor to present a session on leadership and empowerment as graduate nurses. Specifically, my session title is Power of authentic leadership in navigating life's challenges and shaping a professional career in nursing. Even in the face of challenges, authentic leaders have been shown to purposefully align their actions with their values and beliefs while persistently pursuing their life's goals. In this reflective session on leadership and empowerment, attendees will learn about the four core components of authentic leaders and hear reflections and lessons learned on a journey of purpose, persistence and perseverance in pursuit of authentic leadership.
What are you most looking forward to at the 2024 GNSA Conference?
Sandra C Bibb: I am so looking forward to the opportunity to meet, greet, connect with and interact with our next generation of professional nurses. The attendees at this 2024 conference.
What advice do you have for graduate nursing students as they advance as leaders in the next phase of their nursing career?
Sandra C Bibb: There's a quote that I really enjoy by an author, Robin Sharma. He writes, leadership is not about executive position or title. It's about connection and influence at its highest. Leadership is all about adding value to the world and blessing lives through the work you do. What I wish for all graduate nursing students is that you recognize that where you are right now on your professional journey, you are a leader, you are already making a tremendous difference by adding value and blessing lives. You're already influencing, you're already connecting. I applaud those accomplishments to date and I encourage you as you continue on your journey to see every challenge as an opportunity to grow and develop and be and be becoming the authentically, you leader, you are intended to be.
