Speaker: Maureen Baker

Maureen Baker: Nurses are the end users of a ton of technology and it's important for nurses as end users to approach technology and innovation with a cautious curiosity.

Maureen Baker: Hello, my name is Maureen Baker. I am an Associate Professor at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

What will you be speaking about at the 2026 GNSA Conference?

Maureen Baker: In the conference, I'm going to be demonstrating how we use artificial intelligence to enhance active learning in undergraduate and graduate nursing programs. Learners will see the demonstrations and hopefully leave the conference with 3 solid examples of how to implement AI in their undergraduate and graduate programs.

What does the conference theme mean to you?

Maureen Baker: The conference theme, Legacy of care, Leadership and innovation for a sustainable future, means to me that nurses are the end users of a ton of technology and it's important for nurses as end users to approach technology and innovation with a cautious curiosity.

What advice do you have for graduate nursing students as they advance as leaders in the next phase of their nursing career?

Maureen Baker: My advice for graduate nursing students as they as they advance as leaders in the next phase of their nursing career is to experiment, little micro experiments, little trials of innovation and always test to see what we can do better, what works and what doesn't work, to constantly evolve and keep that growth mindset going.
