Speaker: María Paz Mattenet Riva, City of Buenos Aires, Buenos Aires Province, Argentina
How (and why) are you taking action on climate change solutions in, for, and with your community?
María Paz Mattenet Riva: Hi, everyone. My name is Maria Paz Mettnet Riva. I'm from Buenos Aires, Argentina and I'm involved in climate action because I believe it's the intersection of many social, political, economical issues I care about. So I'm currently involved in a project that is trying to bring renewable energy to precarious neighborhoods in the city of Buenos Aires. We are trying to install solar panels with the aim of generating energetical autonomy and replacing informal network connections to the energy network with legal and also high quality solar panels. And we are looking forward to capacitate and inform all the local people in that community in that neighborhood on how to manage that energy and how to maintain and keep up the work with those solar panels so they can learn and incorporate those capacities.
Who or what inspires/inspired you to care about climate change and climate solutions?
María Paz Mattenet Riva: It is my fellow young climate activists colleagues who inspire me the most and who show me how they work every day to build a better future for all of us. So power to you.
