Speaker: Pranto Paul, Sylhet, Bangladesh
How (and why) are you taking action on climate change solutions in, for, and with your community?
Pranto Paul: Hello, this is Prat Paul from Bangladesh and I have completed my post graduation in anthropology and I'm currently working with various organizations towards uh S DC 13, which is the climate action. So from uh from the early early stage of my education, I have always committed to climate and the environment like uh I saw that the people are not using the dust bins and they are throwing waste here and there and also the climate change which is causing the global warming and also the ice melting. So from this point, I thought about the disease goals like what are the disease? And I focus on the S DC 13 mainly that which is based on the climate action. And that's why I am taking action and working towards the SG 13 and to combat against the climate change. And I am also leading a group of 30,000 youth people all over the South Asia who are working towards the SDZ 13. And we are, we had already planted 20,000 trees all over Bangladesh in 2023. And this year I am launching from my, for my own co-operation, a program which will be based on this, this 13 also. And uh I will engage the community people, most importantly, the marginalized and the Barna Leur people. And I am launching a video game for the Children as you know, that Children are the uh the basic source of the knowledge. And I want to introduce them about the climate change. And that's why I am taking steps towards my community. And um I'm also develop a comic book which is based on the climate change, focusing on the Children. So this is my climate action and work towards that as T 13. Thank you so much.
Who or what inspires/inspired you to care about climate change and climate solutions?
Pranto Paul: Hello, this is Prantal from Bangladesh and I have completed my post graduation in anthropology and currently working towards STC 13. So what inspired me about the climate action and the climate solution projects? Actually, the coastal areas in Bangladesh are the most v vulnerable areas. And the communities, most importantly, the girls and the women uh like their sexual and reproductive health are changing during the climate change. Uh And I saw that uh I saw that the health are affecting most importantly. And uh there are also that there are heavy raining in my area where I am residing right now in the city, which is uh which is the result in heavy rainfall in 2022, there was a heavy flood in this area. So this actually inspired me to do something to, to combat the climate change basically. And uh and this is one of the story, like one of the background story for me, like how I am inspired to work for the climate solutions. And another thing is that the the reproductive health cycle are definitely changing among the girls and the women in the coastal area. As I already mentioned that they are the most vulnerable areas and the vulnerable communities here. So the climate is is affecting also these type of things and also it is affecting the gender based violence where the women are being violence and due to the climate change, and you can see the unequal, unequal distribution of food and the crops for the climate is among the men and the women do for the patriarchal social structure in this arena in in South Asian Arena. So this actually inspired me to work towards the climate change. And I am currently brand a group of 30,000 youth who are working towards in overall South Asia to combat the climate change. And also I am empowering the young Children to work towards the climate change. Thank you.
