Speaker: Baraka Ramadhani, Iringa, Tanzania

How (and why) are you taking action on climate change solutions in, for, and with your community?

Baraka Ramadhani: My name is Baraka Ramadhani. I'm from Tanzania. The one who inspired me about climate action is my lecturer. I remember that day when he came in the class and said that if Tanzanians would never wake up and decide to fight against climate change, we're going to lose the opportunity of receiving tourists in our country because tourists come in Tanzania in order to see the nature, the beautiful nation. So if we allow climate change to distract it, tourists will never come. So through that time, I decided to fight against climate change. To my side. I used two approaches to fight against climate change. The first one I used to educate my local community about climate action and the impact of it in our environment. Especially with primary students and secondary students. The second approach I used, I used to plant trees in primary school and secondary school and also in a local community area which is open. I do that in order to ensure the sustainability of our tourism sector in Tanzania. Thank you.
