Jay Rodgers: Hey, I'm Jay Rogers. I've been a part of the Activate team for coming up seven years, and currently my wife and I are leading Activate Rototuna North Campus and we are loving it.
How does Activate Rototuna North show love to others?
Jay Rodgers: I believe the way that Activate shows love to others is by creating a space where people can belong, creating a space where people can find hope and creating a space where people can find purpose. And that's all found in Jesus Christ. And not only that, but seeing Christians equipped to live the life that God has called them to live, which is impacting workplaces, which is impacting schools, which is impacting our city. Therefore, it's loving others.
How do you personally show love to others in your role?
Jay Rodgers: I show love to others at work by honouring the gift that is on their life. I think that's something that everyone should do. And we need to honour the gift that God has placed on people's lives.
Where have you seen transformation taking place?
Jay Rodgers: There's a story that I think of straight away. And it was when we were in the old Ruakura site and there was a man from the community and he walked through the tunnel and he came and sat along the fence in our car park. And I remember seeing him from the upstairs offices and went down and had a chat with him. He had his hands in his face. He was crying, and after a bit of conversation, I soon realised that this man was deciding whether he wanted to take his life or not. And so I remember I was telling him about the hope that I found in Jesus and telling him that he can find it, too. And we didn't get too far on that day necessarily. But I remember on Sunday, a few days later, that man walked through the door and I couldn't believe my eyes. I was like, Come on, he's here. And he responded to the gospel that Sunday gave his life to Jesus and changed his life
What motivates you to love others?
Jay Rodgers: What motivates me to love others is a question that's going to get me preaching. And the simple answer is Jesus. You see when we receive revelation, which we should all be praying for of what Jesus did on the cross, for you and for me. When we when we get that revelation and we know what He did for us, we can't help but open our mouths and tell people about Him. And see in my eyes loving people is telling people about Jesus. There's other ways that we can love people for sure. But the ultimate way that we can love people is by telling them about what Jesus did for them on the cross that they are saved. When they accept Jesus into their life, that Jesus is the only anyway, the only truth and the only life. And if you want to love the people around you, can I encourage you? Tell them about Jesus. Tell them about him. He is worth telling, and He loved us so much. God loved us so much that He gave His one and only son that whoever would believe in Him were not peer but have eternal life. That's true love, and we got to share that with others
