What does MedMera Bank do and what is your role there?
Erik Ellqvist: Hi, I'm Erik Ellqvist The CIO of MedMera Bank. MedMera Bank is a small niche bank with two products. We have consumer loans and saving accounts. We are owned by a co-operative which also owns the big well known COOP retailer.
Why did you choose Google Cloud?
Erik Ellqvist: A bit more than a year ago, we decided to look closely into cloud services. Quite soon, we came to the conclusion that Google Cloud is the best fit for us. We made a proof of concept, we worked with contractual issues and we have now started with a foundation to set up everything so that we can start to move
Erik Ellqvist: to Google Cloud, including the databases and +30 applications.
What have you achieved using Google Cloud solutions?
Erik Ellqvist: Well, the POC one is finished and we are working with the POC two. We are finalising the foundation part so we are ready to move and migrate our systems. It will take some time most likely it will take years. But we are not in a hurry and the work will be done in a very agile way. It takes step by step and we'll be in the cloud and we claim that we are going to be cloud native by 2025.
What are your future plans for working with Google Cloud?
Erik Ellqvist: Our future plans when it comes to cloud is that we, we are going to be cloud native in 2025. We are going to move everything from the on premises to cloud services. We also aim to look into all the new fantastic services that are coming up such as AI and LLMs and investigation will pick up speed whenever we have moved the databases. So most likely later this year or early next year.
