Please introduce yourself and share why you chose Georgia Military College?
Hello, my name is Heather Walker and I'm a proud graduate of Georgia Military College. I chose GMC because I was new to the middle Georgia area, I was unsure of my career path and I needed to attend school and work. I felt that the programs that GMC offered, combined with the individual attention and excellent faculty and staff, would provide the direction that I needed. The education, professional guidance and the relationships formed at GMC helped to shape my journey and still benefit me to this day.
How did GMC contribute to your success?
Success is beyond the books. Don't get me wrong. Book knowledge and schoolwork is fundamental, but there's so much more to having a good educational experience. GMC helped me see the importance of mentorship, developing a strong network and being involved in extracurricular and community events.
What sets GMC apart from other colleges?
I had recently graduated high school and wasn't really sure of my next steps. I knew I needed to and wanted to attend college, and I couldn't have asked for a better experience. GMC offered a rewarding and nurturing environment where I was able to grow and also work on campus while I was in attendance. After a lot of hard work, I graduated summa cum laude and was chosen by the American Association of University women as the top female graduate. Even over 20 years later, I am still very connected to faculty staff and fellow graduates from GMC.
What advice do you have for future GMC students?
I would say, connect with someone at GMC to learn more, consider your priorities and see how GMC can help you achieve your goals. GMC has a proven track record of delivering quality education, a great experience at an affordable price.
