Speaker: Tamara Springer, Class of 2021
What program at Georgetown are you currently enrolled in or did you graduate from?
Tamara Springer: Hello, my name is Tamara Springer and I graduated from Georgetown's Masters of Science in Epidemiology program in May of 2021.
How did you collaborate with faculty?
Tamara Springer: I was able to collaborate with faculty at Georgetown through my work. Uh I worked in the Office of Minority Health and Health Disparities Research under Dr. Adams-Campbell and Dr. Dash. And when we transitioned to COVID, they actually found amazing opportunities for me to collaborate with the Lombardi Cancer Center studying vaccine hesitancy. And so that was an amazing opportunity to collaborate. But I also saw opportunities for myself with other faculty just because I wanted to really get a diverse experience and get to know um other departments within Georgetown.
How did your program help you achieve your professional goals?
Tamara Springer: Right now, we're in a golden era for epidemiologists. Graduating from Georgetown University with my degree and work experience opened so many doors for me. As an epidemiologist, you have data analytic skills that are extremely transferrable into any field. And this allowed me to have my pick of the litter when it came to selecting jobs.
