What key challenges did you need help with before you started using Genio?
Tiffanie : Hi, my name is Tiffanie, and I'm currently a transfer student coming into the University of California, Irvine. I've been a Genio user for one quarter now. This is my first quarter that I've used this app or any sort of extra means of recording device. I have full accommodations at my school and they are the ones that offered this app to me, and I've taken advantage of it. It has allowed for me to show up to class and take notes, listen, just be very present in class and create my own notes when I'm away from class. So, it's been an excellent tool to record with and to go back and re-review. So, I definitely use it because I have a lot of mental health challenges. So, it's been very supportive.
How has Genio helped you with those challenges and impacted your learning experience?
Tiffanie : So, as I mentioned, I have a lot of mental health challenges, and it has allowed for me to show up to class, participate. I'm able to really listen to the professor rather than scramble in my head and panic, and, you know, worry about, am I writing down the right thing or like, you know, I'm not really present because I'm trying to like listen and write, and it's just too many things. That type of environment for learning is not practical for me. I have to really do one thing at a time. So, if I'm showing up to class, I'm showing up so I can actually be very present, engage, I want to listen, take it all in. And then the real work for me starts when I leave class and I have to rewatch all of my lectures, listen to them, put them all, you know, in order, and create notes for myself. So, this app has allowed for me to do that. It's been a lot of support.
