What key challenges did you need help with before you started using Genio?
Suha : Hi, my name's Suha. I'm studying at McMaster. I've been using Genio for about 4 months now. Before I started using Genio, my kind of biggest barrier in my academic career was note taking. I had no idea how to do that effectively. I was, you know, falling into the typical pit holes, like just copying whatever the professors saying, and not really focusing on just sitting there understanding whatever is being explained. I had no idea how to start the effective note taking and how to actually make something that I could learn from afterwards, the lecture. It was like a complete mission trying to decipher what I even wrote, but now having the clear audio portions for each section really helps.
How has Genio helped you with those challenges and impacted your learning experience?
Suha : Genio has really helped alleviate the feeling of being lost in lectures and falling behind. Now I can turn confusing, garbled jot notes into clear explanations and structured outlines so I can understand what is covered in a specific lecture instead of staring at a blank page. It really helps when studying for midterms and exams, knowing what each lecture covered. And I also have organized summaries and questions to work through instead of just messy, overwhelming notes. Being able to be tested on every lecture separately post the specific lecture really helps with not cramming the night before. It's also really reduced my stress since I spend less time trying to figure out where to start and I'm just focusing on learning now.
