Speaker: Maz Jilbert, Junior at Western Washington University

What key challenges did you need help with before you started using Genio?

Maz Jilbert: Hi there, my name is Mazzie. I'm a junior at Western Washington University. And I've been using Genio for 3 years now, I think, I think this is my 3rd year. Some challenges that I had before I started using the software was, I would miss important parts of the lectures. I would just kind of get distracted and so now I'm neurodivergent, so. The ADHD would kick in and I would just not focus well, and I would miss really key parts of of lectures and then the other part was that I ended up having, getting arthritis in my shoulder and I no longer could handwrite my notes, which I preferred doing. So I now had handwriting notes was now too difficult for me to do.

How has Genio helped you with those challenges and impacted your learning experience?

Maz Jilbert: Since I started using Genio, I've noticed that my pain levels are better. When I would handwrite notes, I would get a lot of pain in my shoulder, and it would cramp, and I would get nerve pain, and I would lose feeling, and I don't do that anymore. That doesn't happen anymore cause I type them with Genio. And I also am able to reflect back on stuff, and things we mentioned in the recordings, which helps me later if I need to refer back to something, if I need to jog my memory a little bit, or confirm what was said. So I feel like my notes are all clearer, they're more consistent and they're more organized, and it doesn't hurt me as much.
