Speaker: Kaela Burton, Engineering Student at Louisiana State University

What key challenges did you need help with before you started using Genio?

Kaela Burton: Hi, my name is Kaela. So the reason why Genio is helpful to me is because I have ADHD and anxiety, and both of those together make it somewhat difficult for me to maintain focus for long periods of time, even though I'm on medication, especially if it's a subject my brain doesn't receive dopamine from. And you know I'm a hands-on learner. So if I am a hands-on learner that can't focus, it's just kind of like I have to keep my hands busy, otherwise my mind's going to want to wander. And Genio is really helpful with that, especially writing the outlines to help me find good titles for my notes and to put bullet points in between those. Especially as an engineering major, this is like a huge change for me, and I don't want to let my parents down, so.

How has Genio helped you with those challenges and impacted your learning experience?

Kaela Burton: Genio helped me with my work-life balance. I tend to do this thing where I'll basically just keep doing homework for hours on end instead of taking breaks. And then I'll won't remember what I was watching and I have to rewatch the whole, if it's a video lecture I'll have to rewatch it a bunch of times. With Genio, it'll record for me and I can come back and watch the video again together and put bullet point notes, anything that I missed, if there's like slides on the slideshow. I definitely say it helped lower my stress levels and with anxiety, I get stressed out very easily, and it's usually high levels of stress that constantly at all times. It's very exhausting. And it really helps me.
