What key challenges did you need help with before you started using Genio?
Jaydi: Hello, my name is Jaydi and I am a first-year student at Washington University in St. Louis. So far, I've been using Genio for a few months and it's been a great help. As a neurodivergent student, one of my most significant challenges at school is taking notes while actively listening to my teacher or professor. Not only was it challenging for me to remain focused in class when stressing about note-taking, but my notes weren't always the most organized and effective for my learning and retention. Not to mention, I tend to spend a lot of time making my notes elaborate, so it's easy for me to understand, which conflicts with the limited time I have in class to take notes, since I have to pay attention and keep up with my professor's pace. Since I don't process information as efficiently, if my lectures aren't recorded and available for future reference, I would miss key concepts I need for comprehension and exam revision. So that was another struggle I had before I was introduced to Genio.
How has Genio helped you with those challenges and impacted your learning experience?
Jaydi: I absolutely love the various features that Genio offers, as they allow me not only to listen attentively in class as it transcribes, but also to engage with the content being recorded both during and after lectures. To name a few, being able to upload my professor's slideshows, make personal annotations and side notes, and use different marks to signify importance or questions I may have are all beneficial tools to ensure that I am authentically learning. Now that I don't have to stress about missing critical details, I can focus on strengthening what Genio has already noted and study more effectively, since I have all the information I need to refer to. The quiz me feature, my favorite, has been a cornerstone in my studying, since I heavily use active recall and quizzing when preparing for exams, and with that, I have been excelling in my classes. I no longer have to use inefficient and unorganized note taking and studying techniques, and I no longer feel unconfident about my academic abilities.
