What key challenges did you need help with before you started using Genio?
Doreen : Hello, my name's Doreen. I'm studying at the University of Portsmouth. Before I had Glean or Genio, I really struggled with note taking because either my quality was really poor and I didn't really understand what I was talking about when I looked back at my notes. But I also found that I really struggled with actually listening to the lecturer, which was why my notes would always be poor, because I was trying to write as quickly and and short as possible, but then like I couldn't actually understand what I was trying to say. So, having the time stamping with the PowerPoint presentation has been super, super helpful. As somebody with ADHD I didn't realise how much of a difference that this software actually helps, and it has cleared up a lot of confusion for me after lectures. I don't struggle with that anymore.
How has Genio helped you with those challenges and impacted your learning experience?
Doreen : So I found it really helpful that Genio has not just the options for marking something as a heading or if it's important or to revise it, but also the ability to mark a task because I find now that I put the task and even if I just give a brief description like complete the pre-tasks or research this, research that, I can go to that and the timestamp will show me exactly what the teacher was saying to me at that time. That's not something that I would have been able, I would have had to go to my friends in the class or reached out to my lecturer separately. And for the first time ever I've been able to submit all of my work, my assessments on time, and I've even gotten a distinction in my first one, bearing in mind I nearly failed college and I had to drop out a few times as well. So it really, really made a massive difference in my learning.
