What key challenges did you need help with before you started using Genio?
Caroline McLachlan Darling: Hi, my name is Caroline McLachlan Darling. I am a student at Conestoga College. I've been using Genio for a month and a half since my courses started, I have a learning disability in written expression, and I'm actually going back and doing a second degree. My initial degree was done in the early 2000s before Genio and other amazing programs existed, and it's making my studies a little bit easier this time because instead of having to depend solely on other students' notes, which can sometimes prove very tricky to get, Genio is allowing me to have a transcript of the lecture that I am attending, and then I can highlight and make notes from that. So it is great to be able to have for someone who can't write notes with a pen and paper. So, thank you so much.
How has Genio helped you with those challenges and impacted your learning experience?
Caroline McLachlan Darling: One of the amazing things that Genio has really helped me with, is that being able to have, with Genio, I can have lecture notes immediately after the lecture. And more importantly, when I'm reading over the notes, if I'm struggling with how a word is pronounced, which is something that is very difficult for my brain to connect a written word and an auditory word, it's very difficult for my brain to connect them. With Genio, I can select the word that I'm struggling with, and then I can hear it again. This is very important because right now I'm actually studying human anatomy and physiology, and there's a lot of terms in there. So it's been really helping making my studying easier, connecting auditory things I heard in the class with written things, not only in the notes, but also helping me learn better from my textbooks as well.
