Speaker: Trista Rankin, Freshman at Bellarmine University
What key challenges did you need help with before you started using Genio (formerly Glean)?
Trista Rankin: Hi, my name is Trista. I am studying business and I have had Glean since August 2024. I am a freshman in college and also a first-generation student. I receive extra academic support and Glean, however, is one of the accommodations I use. I am a neurodiversity student and because of this, I have a mental disability that allow me to request and use accommodations.
How has Genio (formerly Glean) helped you with those challenges and impacted your learning experience?
Trista Rankin: I think Glean has helped me gain support by listening back back to the lectures I have recorded, sometimes my brain does not capture everything said and Glean has helped it with that.
Would you recommend Genio (formerly Glean) to other students?
Trista Rankin: Glean is great for students who struggle with note taking, especially those with ADHD, learning disabilities, or who process information better when they can review it later at their own pace. It can help by improving focus during lectures since students don't have to worry about writing everything down in a moment. It is also useful for organization and summarizing key points which can make studying more efficient. I recommend it to students who prefer audio-based learning, have difficulty keeping up with fast paced lectures, or just want to structure ways to revisit class materials.
