Speakers: Stephen Kleiss, Junior at Tennessee Technological University
When you first started using Glean, what were the key challenges you wanted help with?
Stephen Kleiss: Hello, my name is Steven Kleiss, and I am a junior at Tennessee Tech University. I was diagnosed with ADHD and ASD when I was 18 years old, and at that point I had already been through pretty much all of my public education through grade school, and it was only when the pandemic hit and we had to do online learning that I felt like I was at a true disadvantage and that something was wrong. With this diagnosis, I went to the Accessible Education Center at Tech, and they gave me access to Glean, and it has helped immensely because I can record notes in time, and I can take notes that are marked on a specific date at a specific time, with a transcribed audio that shows what was said, even if I missed something. It helps out a lot with taking notes and studying. I use it with all of my classes, even if I'm not taking a lot of notes/
How has Glean impacted your learning experience and how quickly did you notice this impact?
Stephen Kleiss: It helps me out a lot because it saves me a lot of time, and that's time that I might not have a lot of energy for. It it can help keep my time studying, my time reviewing, very concise, so that I don't zone out, I don't disassociate. So it definitely helps with that, and overall, it just saves me a bunch of time and a lot of headaches.
Would you recommend Glean to other students?
Stephen Kleiss: I 100% recommend Glean to anybody. I have a feeling I might even use it beyond university stuff, even if I don't need to study or review notes for a class, I've used it for interviews, for my journalism related stuff. I've used it when I need to review something down the line. I've used it for transcribing stuff. It just helps out so much with just being able to record stuff and have notes in time with that recording. Additionally, it's transcribed. Even if you're not neurodivergent, I would recommend it because it's just so helpful just to have.
