Speaker: Rosanna "Rosie" Ewert, Postgrad at Louisiana State University
What key challenges did you need help with before you started using Genio (formerly Glean)?
Rosanna "Rosie" Ewert: Hey, so, my name is Rosie. I'm at LSU and I've had Glean for about a year now.
Rosanna "Rosie" Ewert: One of the biggest things that I was interested in utilizing with Glean was just being able to have that record of what happened in class because before LSU picked Glean our note taking system was relying on other classmates to provide their notes to you, and they didn't necessarily catch the things that I may have missed. And so being able to have a recording that can tell me, oh, this is exactly what the instructor said the moment that you may have been thinking about what you were gonna have for lunch and then you suddenly realized that you missed an important part of the lecture.
How has Genio (formerly Glean) helped you with those challenges and impacted your learning experience?
Rosanna "Rosie" Ewert: I'd say it was pretty immediate, the first thing being just relief. I think I had a lot of anxiety around not being able to necessarily hear every part of the lecture. So knowing that I had something I could go back to and hear and not just hear but also read the transcript alongside listening to the recording really helped me with making sure I knew what guidelines were on course assignments or whether there was a key concept that needed to be focused on more when preparing for exams. So I'd say the biggest thing was just my overall like emotional well being. Just felt relief in that I was sure that as long as I went to class and had Glean open, it would record whatever I needed to hear and look back at later.
Would you recommend Genio (formerly Glean) to other students?
Rosanna "Rosie" Ewert: Yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes. I would absolutely recommend Glean to other students, especially those with ADHD or might have some attention deficit challenges. It's just been so helpful just being able to keep track. I'm very much a self-motivated student already. It's just a tug of war between me and my ADHD. So being able to have another person on the end of the rope that I'm on tugging us along has been so helpful. Just being able to know that I can look back at my lecture. It's not a one time moment where if I missed it, it's gone. It's one of those things where I'm in the moment experiencing it but also not necessarily having to worry about what I miss because I can always go and look back at it. So I definitely recommend it often. I am always, always encouraging other students to utilize Glean
