Speaker: Rayne Dobrowolski, Student at Temple University
What key challenges did you need help with before you started using Genio (formerly Glean)?
Rayne Dobrowolski: Hi, my name is Rayne, and I am a geology major at Temple University. I have been using Glean in my courses for 2 semesters now. When I first started using Glean, I wanted to retain information better in my classes, and I wanted to make sure that I wasn't going to miss out on any course content, if I'm unable to type or write during class. I have a long list of things going on disability wise. So my disability coordinator at Temple suggested that it might help me. For me, I mostly valued the extra study support and the accessibility accommodations within Glean, as I transitioned from high school content to university.
How has Genio (formerly Glean) helped you with those challenges and impacted your learning experience?
Rayne Dobrowolski: I do think that Glean has impacted my learning experience because, for one, I have less stress when I am about to go to lectures because I can always look back at what the professor said, so I'm not worried that I'm gonna miss something. Also, I like the interface and the ability to insert definitions, slides and screens directly into my notes, which is very helpful because I can't do that in a notebook. And then also on that note, it takes me less time to organize my notes in general because I know where they all are because I have my collections and everything and I can just go into it and look back and it's a lot easier to study for me that way.
Would you recommend Genio (formerly Glean) to other students?
Rayne Dobrowolski: Yes, in general, I would recommend Glean.
Rayne Dobrowolski: I think some reasons would be that if you're unorganized in general, it helps you with the collections to have all your notes in the spot you need them. Also, if you're somebody who's not that good at writing or you're not able to with your hands, being able to type if that's easier for you, having all your notes on your laptop on Glean might be better for you. And then also I think it would be good for people who can't really carry around a lot of heavy books and stuff, like a lot of notebooks for every class, they just to have it all on their laptop.
