What key challenges did you need help with before you started using Genio (formerly Glean)?
Page Durkin: Hi, I'm Page Durkin. I go to St. Norbett College in Wisconsin. I'm a freshman, and the key challenges that I wanted help with, Glean-wise was being able to have notes, good notes, and have all the key information down because that was one of my issues, because what I used to do was I would just write everything on the slides and everything in a lecture, which is not what you're supposed to do. But it's really hard for me to pick out certain details because I have a processing issue in ADHD so I get distracted really easily or it takes me a while to process the actual information that is needed.
How has Genio (formerly Glean) helped you with those challenges and impacted your learning experience?
Page Durkin: It impacted my learning experience kind of quickly because last semester, in all my classes that required note taking, I was writing too much and I wasn't writing fast enough, so they would move on to the next slide, and I wouldn't be able to get things down. And also, it was hard for me to write everything and actually focus enough to write it. And then once I got Glean, I started using the audio notes and the outline, and that was a lot more helpful because then I could actually listen and just listen, because that's how I take in information, instead of having to listen and write and do all sorts of stuff while the lecture was going on. But I noticed it pretty quickly, like within the first week or so.
Would you recommend Genio (formerly Glean) to other students?
Page Durkin: I would highly recommend Glean because beyond having audio notes and stuff like that, they have a lot of other sections, they have focus timer, they have flash cards, they have - you can put little emojis on what's important, what needs to be studied, and also the transcript that they have when you do audio notes is very helpful because then like I said, that turns into the outlines, so now you have the information that you might have missed and that you needed.
Page Durkin: It's really helped me a lot and I was lucky enough to be able to have it, but yeah, I highly recommend it for other students.
