Speaker: Olivia Woods, Student at Victoria University of Wellington
What key challenges did you need help with before you started using Genio (formerly Glean)?
Olivia Woods: Hiya, my name is Olivia, and I'm studying in Wellington, New Zealand, at Victoria University of Wellington. I've had Glean for about a month or two now and the key challenges I wanted help with when I first got Glean was note taking was my major one. I found it so hard to keep up, to make sure I had all the information from one lecture. And also the whole entire task of it was quite overwhelming, and I think the fact that I could go in and out and pause and play. And continue and then come back and, you know, it was doable in pieces was the best part for me. I didn't have a lot of information about Glean before I used it, but the few videos they were helpful and I quickly got the hang of it.
How has Genio (formerly Glean) helped you with those challenges and impacted your learning experience?
Olivia Woods: I think that, like I said before, it was really hard to do lectures and chunks, and using Glean, it's a lot more consumable. I have ADHD and so being able to take those pieces and do it in a random order. Not necessarily all the time, but it helped a lot just having different capabilities as to how I could take notes, rather than being there in a rush, trying to keep up, and then getting frustrated and shutting down because I've missed something has completely changed my experience because I don't do that anymore. I have a kind of fail-safe to fall back on with Glean, I can also record it and, that be enough studying, if that makes sense in one time. It's just definitely made my whole experience better as I stressed out, so yeah.
Would you recommend Genio (formerly Glean) to other students?
Olivia Woods: I have already recommended Glean to many other people, students, parents, anyone learning anything, because, or even knowing people who learn things, because it has been such a relief, it's made things frustrating, way more consumable. I can keep up, you can be so specific with where you want to go to with the transcription, you can go back to a specific. Sentence or something someone said something, you know, specific points, the time stamp notes are so helpful, keeping track of everything. It has helped so much in terms of my ADHD, my recall issues, being confused, thinking I've remembered something wrong, it's easy to use and keep track of, it's not confusing. You do it in pieces, I really, I really love Glean, to be honest. It's made things a lot easier.
