What key challenges did you need help with before you started using Genio (formerly Glean)?
Maria Mindieta: Yes, my name is Maria Mendieta. I study at Rose State College and I'm taking pre-medical imaging. The first time I accessed Glean, I got it through my accommodations office. I use it for keep up with the notes and to take notes within my class, so I don't have to write it all down. It's hard for me with, I have low vision, so it's hard for me to keep up with it at the same time. And it helps with the transcripting it into text so that I can go back and research and make additional notes, and it also keeps them all together and helps put my PowerPoint with it so that I can Further understand what is being said and go back and and research it if I, if I've missed anything. But it has been very helpful.
How has Genio (formerly Glean) helped you with those challenges and impacted your learning experience?
Maria Mindieta: I was commenting earlier on the advantages of using Glean with my low vision, it's hard to keep up with the class and pay attention to what she's saying, my teacher's saying at the same time. So the recording, does wonders for me. It helps me to not have to even decipher my own handwriting because I'm trying to keep up with it so fast that sometimes I can't even read my own handwriting. So it helps with being able to have it all on text and and clear, so I don't miss anything. Having it all together in one place is a benefit because it's have notes on my paper, but learning how to to take notes properly is a task and Glean helps me organize it, it helps me with being able to recite anything that I, that is going into the class that I'm that might have. blew over because I was too busy paying attention. See something I needed to write down. And it's got a lot of extras on there that helps you pull things out of the notes and organize it. itself, so it has been a big help on my note taking in my classes and my grades because I'm able to actually produce vital information out of my course. Instead of having it jumbled up with everything else. It's great for answering any questions that I have, within my assignments. Because I know it's accurate, because it took it word for word from the teacher. It has been a tremendous help and I noticed it immediately because, it's hard to get all the notes together and pull out what you need, but this app does it for you, so it's been a great help.
Would you recommend Genio (formerly Glean) to other students?
Maria Mindieta: I would definitely recommend this to any student, much less people that need accommodations, either audio or video issues, you know, it is definitely a benefit for people who have visual. Or even if they have mental setback that would help them be able to keep up with their notes without having to worry about it being accurate or if it's put in order or being able to recite any information that you might need that was said in the class that is not in a textbook. And also, I'm able to add my PowerPoints that my teacher sends to me, ahead of class so that I'm able to incorporate it into the note taking. Anybody that needs has issues with the note taking, this would be wonderful for them. Yeah I know it's wonderful for me, so I would recommend it, definitely.
