Speaker: Cynthia Rattey, Student at Foothill College
What key challenges did you need help with before you started using Genio (formerly Glean)?
Cynthia Rattey: I first received Glean about 2 years ago, but started seriously using it about. 6 months ago,
Cynthia Rattey: I would say the last 6 months, my studies have improved because of Glean, but the key challenges were not being able to find where I put things in my PC, skipping ahead in lectures because I thought I knew things and not paying enough attention.
How has Genio (formerly Glean) helped you with those challenges and impacted your learning experience?
Cynthia Rattey: It's organized everything.
Cynthia Rattey: I started with my discrete mathematics.
Cynthia Rattey: I started putting things in folders and files. And before I knew it, I was putting everything else in folders and files and my discrete mathematics grade went up a lot and so did my other classes. And my organization skills in life went up too. It didn't just touch school and I started finding myself becoming more calmer
Would you recommend Genio (formerly Glean) to other students?
Cynthia Rattey: First, I would recommend it to any student, not just students that have autism or ADHD or are neurodivergent. Yes, for them too, but any student, because it sets up a good foundation for studying. It organizes the notes, it takes the outlines of the notes. It also tells you what section of the module to look for in the notes, and it sets good study patterns.
Cynthia Rattey: When we set that study pattern in class, we start setting that study pattern outside of class too. It's kind of a beautiful thing.
