What key challenges did you need help with before you started using Genio (formerly Glean)?
Alice Zou: Hi, I'm Alice. I'm a medical science student at Boston University, and I've had Glean for about a year now. The challenge I had where my school had to, you know, give me the subscription to Glean was that I have ADHD so I get distracted very easily in class. I space out or I zone out and I miss slides or I miss where my teacher is talking or what they're talking about. So what's great about Glean is that you have your slideshow beside you, you have the recording beside you, so you can go back and you can go exactly to see the slides that you missed and be able to relisten to it while knowing what slide they're on because sometimes they're referring to stuff on a slide and you don't know what slide they're on. So then it's like you get confused and lost. So that's why I think it's really helpful for me.
How has Genio (formerly Glean) helped you with those challenges and impacted your learning experience?
Alice Zou: Glean has made school a lot easier and I did notice this literally in the first week of using it. I'm not super stressed in class to make sure I'm writing down everything the teacher says. I can just focus on what they're talking about, making sure I'm understanding the material, instead of focusing on literally writing down everything they're saying to make sure that I can understand it later on. It's also really great for studying because I can go back and rewatch and relisten to the lectures, and that really, you know, helps reinforce my learning when I'm studying for a midterm, you know, 3 months later.
Would you recommend Genio (formerly Glean) to other students?
Alice Zou: If you're someone who already audio records lectures, I definitely recommend it. I know some of my friends, they audio record lectures on just their iPhone with that feature, with that that voice recorder app. So if you're already doing that, might as well get Glean and, you know, do it in a more easy way because of the whole transcript thing, the whole summary stuff. So everything was, you know, it was really great and it adds a lot to your experience. It's also especially great if you are neurodivergent and you, you know, need to go back constantly and if you're missing stuff in class, it's really great to ensure that you're learning all the material, and that you can reference exactly what slides that you're missing as well. So yeah, I would say I recommend Glean for students.
