Speaker: Khanh Tran, Student at University of the Pacific, Thomas J. Long School of Pharmacy
What key challenges did you need help with before you started using Genio?
Khanh Tran: Hi, my name is Khahn Tran, and I'm a first-year student at the University of the Pacific Thomas J. Long School of Pharmacy. I'm the first in my family to go to a university, and English is my second language. I've been using Genio Notes since it was called Glean, starting in 2023. As a student and parent with ADD, it supported me through my academic challenges by saving time and helping me learn better. Turning my notes into practice quizzes allows me to add slides and checks my understanding. What stands out to me is how the app keeps improving and takes feedback very seriously. I want to thank UOP and my accommodation specialist Morgan, for introducing me to Genio Notes. It's made such a difference that I believe more students, even without accommodations, should be able to use this at our institution and at other schools.
How has Genio helped you with those challenges and impacted your learning experience?
Khanh Tran: One of the biggest challenges was that at first, I was not passing my classes, but after using Genio Notes, I was able to move into good academic standing. My grades slowly improved step by step. It went from mostly C's, moving up to B's and A's. What made the difference was how much easier it became to organize and understand my notes, instead of just writing things down and not retaining them. That definitely reduced my stress and gave me more confidence in studying. As a student and parent, it's also helped my work-life balance, because I spend less time feeling lost and more time focusing on what matters. Genio has supported me, not just in improving my grades, but in building confidence and balance in my academic journey.
