Speaker: Alexandra, Student at Mohawk Valley Community College
What key challenges did you need help with before you started using Genio?
Alexandra: Hello. So I think some of the challenges that I struggled with, especially were relatively to me. I was diagnosed with ADHD when I was 23. For me, that is very late diagnosis. I had to go through all of my schooling, very, very confused and very, very frustrated on why I could never ever perform the best that people had told me I would be able to. You're not reaching your potential is something that I heard my entire life. Finally, I have something that can help me just get further. I don't have to sit here and struggle with trying to keep so much information in my head. I don't have to struggle with having to actually organize that information. I don't have to struggle with translating that information from just a bunch of noises into words into actual information inside my head. Genio does that for me.
How has Genio helped you with those challenges and impacted your learning experience?
Alexandra: Specifically, Genio has helped me by allowing me to expand my accommodation resources. Without Genio, I literally would never have been able to be successful. At this point, I am passing all of my classes. I'm actually attentive and very mindful in my lectures. I'm able to sit there and respond to questions, and I'm able to sit there and reflect on lessons after the fact, because I have something that anchors me to it. I feel like genuinely, I actually have the ability to reach my potential. I'm still learning what that is, but nobody else is telling me what my potential is. I'm deciding it for myself.
