How would you describe Genio (formerly Glean) to another student?
Kira Farnham: Glean is a note taking software that allows you to audio record your lectures while taking notes simultaneously. Glean transcribes the audio captured, and you're able to play back the recording of your lecture.
What would you say Genio (formerly Glean) has helped you the most with?
Kira Farnham: Glean has helped me the most with my note taking. So before I started using Glean, I didn't like note taking. I wasn't good at it. I was always writing too much or too little, but with Glean, since I'm able to record the audio, I'm never worried about not typing fast enough or missing too much of the notes. Even within my notes, the tags where exactly I'm typing in the audio so I can look back and see what pieces I've missed.
What would you say is the thing you like the most about Genio (formerly Glean)?
Kira Farnham: The thing I like the most about Glean is how easy it is to stay organized while using Glean. On one side of the screen, I have the audio recording going. On the other side, I have notes taking. If I don't want the audio recording to show while I'm doing it, I have the option as well. I even utilize the collections feature to sort all my notes into the different classes. I can go back to recordings on other days, add bits and pieces here and whenever. So it's just super easy and functional for me.
If you could say something to encourage another student to use Genio (formerly Glean), what would it be?
Kira Farnham: One thing I would say would be don't be afraid to just get started with it. I got really intimidated at first by, oh, it's this new software that I have to figure out, but the tutorials are so easy, it's so convenient, and I don't like taking notes. I never did, but Glean has helped me like that, and it makes it so much easier for me.
